The Iraqi healthcare services are tussling get possession of lost momentum. Many professional physicians and nurses left Iraq because the current situation there. In spite of the plans of calling back the skilled health workforce but they still afraid of disadvantage of their return. Hence, technology plays a central role to take advantage of their profession through the use of telemedicine. Thus it is the need to study the factors that effects the implementation of telemedicine that covers network services, policy makers and patient understanding. These papers shows the issue that faces the implementation of telemedicine and analyze the literature of previous telemedicine in Middle East countries to find out the essential factors toward building Iraqi telemedicine framewor

Electronic Health Records Challenges and Barriers in Iraq

Developing countries are slow adopters of new technologies, particularly with regards to the health services of these countries. This study explores the challenges to applied EHRs system in Iraq hospital. The Technology Acceptance and Barriers of this technology in the Iraqi medical section this study is probably the one of the few studies of its kind in Iraq; there have been some limited studies of EHR early trials in some developing countries assessing the challenges of implementation. This study briefly mentions barriers EHR projects to applied in Iraq. Some challenges that would impede the implementation of EHR in an Iraqi hospital are the initial huge startup costs, poor computer skills of healthcare professionals, poor maintenance culture, and people embedding political meaning(s) into the system. The weak state of information infrastructure at the hospital would be another challenge in an EHR implementation. EHR could potentially reduce waiting times for patients, reduce the cost of the hospital‘s operations, improve interdepartmental communication and collaboration, provide opportunity for sharing best practices among physicians within Iraqi  hospitals, and enhance better resource allocation. The data an EHR could primarily capture would be patients 'demographics, care plans, laboratory results, billing and claims information. Keyword: EHR, WHO, ICT, I

Clinical Terminology in Patient Health Record System - SNOMED CT Overview

    Get PDF
Background of study: Patient Health Record System (PHRS) is used by physicians for capturing patient medical records in electronic media. Standardization in PHRS arises a major challenge due to its complexities. The used of clinical terminology is needed in order to facilitate more expressive clinical data input, provide unambiguous encoding and support the exchange of clinical information. One of highly specialized clinical terminology is SNOMED CT(Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms) that able to encode clinical data, and contains concepts that linked to clinical knowledge to enable accurate recording of data without ambiguity. The aims of this paper is to discuss the use of clinical terminology in PHRS and identifying importance factors for applying clinical terminology in healthcare services. Method: This study used review of literature in order to find the use of clinical terminology in patient health record system by reviewing current used of clinical terminology. Result: The result of the study found that clinical terminology supports information exchange between healthcare provider

A Framework for Integrated Postnatal Care Services for Traditional Malay Medicine and Modern Medicine

This paper shall propose aframework to integrate the services of Traditional Malay Medicine (TMM) with modern medicine in the field of postnatal care. A semi structured interview was conducted towards twelve postnatal care practitioners in the traditional malay medicine and modern medicine field and one public hospital in Malaysia. The current framework shows that both medicine systems are being treated in isolation of each other. MyPostnatal framework is proposed to integrate the services of these medicine systems via electronic health records.Patient can access integrated healthcare services seamlessly and holistically without isolation. Healthcare providers shall also benefit from the standardization of information exchange with other healthcare providers

Enhancement to the patient's health care image encryption system, using several layers of DNA computing and AES (MLAESDNA)

Keeping patient health data private has been a big issue for decades, and this issue will not go away anytime soon. As an integral part of many developing technologies, cryptographic Internet communications ICs (e.g. fog computing and cloud computing) are a main focus of IoT research. Just keep trying all the potential keys until you find the correct one. New and future technologies must have a model of DNA cryptography in order to assure the efficient flow of these technologies. Public-key cryptography is also required to make DNA sequence testing devices for the Internet of Things interoperable. This method employs DNA layers and AES in such a way that it may be easier to design a trustworthy hybrid encryption algorithm that uses DNA layers and AES. In order to guard against brute-force decryption attacks, DNA sequences are encrypted using three keys: (I) the main key, which is the key to the AES encryption algorithm; (II) the rule 1 key, which is the base DNA structure; and (III) the rule 2 key, which is the DNA helical structure binding probability. This key was created with increased security in mind. multi-layered AES encryption and DNA computing were applied to "Covid 19" images in this research (MLAESDNA). With cloud computing, the MLAESDNA team was able to show that IoT signals could be enhanced with encrypted data

A review on the theories of adoption telemedicine in Middle Ease: toward building Iraqi telemedicine

    Get PDF
Telemedicine is the use of modern telecommunications and information technologies for the provision of clinical care to individuals at a distance, and transmission of information to provide that care. Recent advances in information technology and biomedicine increased significantly the technical feasibility, clinical feasibility and affordability enabled collaborative of telemedicine and medical service delivery. Health organizations around the world are becoming more interested in the acquisition and implementation the telemedicine technology to improve or expand existing services and patient care. The ultimate success of telemedicine in an organization requires the adoption of adequate care both technological and managerial issues. This study examined the adoption theories, the key management problem facing many health care organizations which interested in or currently evaluating telemedicine . this research models targeted the technology adoption and empirically evaluated in a study of the investigation involving more public health agencies and criticize the theories. Several research and management implications that emerged from the study results are discussed

In accordance with the current information communication technology growth up in widely used at everywhere. Therefore the implementation in ICT is highly assisted patient on their health. As the current technology can be access at everywhere in anytime, the electronic personalized health records are considered as the best solution for the patient to care and monitor their health. This research paper provides a cross review of relevant literature from the previous study in order to clarify the rationality. Its continue with reviewing, comparing and contrasting the existing studies in order to obtain the factors that influence the adoption of electronic personalized health records.A summary that clarifies the relation each factor has been mentioned serve as the foundation for this empirical analysis. In addition,a logical justification is provided concerning the theory based meta-analysis from other studies

The aim of this study is to analyse user interface requirement for electronic medical record (EMR) system. This study is done through semi-structured interview with final year medical student. A participatory design approach was used to collect EMR user interface requirement from one of medical school in Malaysia. The scopes of analysis involve identifying the layout usage of user interface, navigation menu, navigation menu arrangement, user interface components and screen colour. The input collected from the study will be used to develop EMR user interface model

Novel Computerized Halal Pharmaceuticals Supply Chain Framework for Warehouse and Procurement

    Get PDF
Computerized systems and software technology are extensively used to enhance manufacturing and supply chain performance in the pharmaceutical industry. The halal pharmaceuticals industry is growing and more study is required to cater this evolving industry as technology progresses and advanced computerized systems are introduced in the manufacturing sector to increase productivity. Enforcement and religious authorities require a documented guideline to enforce halal certification whenever a manual operation is substituted by a computerized system. The current halal pharmaceuticals certification guidelines by enforcement agencies in Malaysia and Indonesia mainly focus on manual operations. This paper shall propose a framework to manage the halal supply chain when computerized systems are being used for the warehouse and procurement module. The proposed framework is the outcome of a case study of a Malaysian pharmaceutical organization, Pharmaniaga Manufacturing Berhad in Bangi, Selangor
